Well, it’s not really a crisis. It’s more of a movement to the next stage. It’s been 10 years since I took the leap of faith and started CNJ Creative. In those 10 years, I’ve had many blessings and a few setbacks. I’ve worked on a great diversity of projects with a number of wonderful clients. It’s hard to believe that I’ve been in this industry for 20 years. I can’t possibly be that old! Ha!
As with all things, my business has become more refined over time, and my interests have diverged. I have decided that I don’t just want to be a commercial artist…I want to expand my wheelhouse to get back to my fine art roots. CNJ Creative is just a bit too generic for that. Thus, I am adding a couple of divisions under the CNJ Creative umbrella. I’ll keep the graphic design and art direction in the new Spiralcat Creative division, and I’ll introduce various fine art media with the new Double N Studios division. I’ll launch Double N Studios next year, but for now I can go ahead and unveil Spiralcat Creative. Below is the new division logo!

My Inspiration

The inspiration for the name Spiralcat came from my admiration of Walter Anderson artwork. There is a watercolor called Kittens that simply spoke to me… I fell in love with the illustration and felt it represented my personality, not to mention my name. The loops and swirls follow my artistic journey through life, and as a designer I want to share that journey with my family, my friends, and my clients. Like the tagline says – Groovy name. Great design. Let’s create something together!
I discuss more about this process in my next musing post, take a look: http://cnjcreative.com/2019/10/03/branding-identity/
