Lifestyle/Health/Culinary Samples
Spiralcat Creative’s work runs the gamut from publications & inserts to trade show banners and product packaging. Design responsibilities for each job vary according to need: new concepting, layout and art direction of photography for some, taking established brands and creating new marketing pieces for others. Every project and client offers an opportunity for growth and new experiences.
This section focuses on the lifestyle and health magazines, and culinary publication portion of my portfolio. For a complete sampling of my entire portfolio, please visit my full Portfolio page.

Southern Breeze magazine was a glossy travel & lifestyle publication that covered Lake Charles, LA to Apalachicola, FL. I served as art director as an employee for Compass Media from 2006-2009 and then as a contract designer from 2009-2010 as CNJ Creative.

Entertaining With Purpose is a glossy, photography-rich 224-page cookbook and entertaining guide complete with 65 recipes and hosting tips. It was a collaboration with longtime friend and former coworker Jenny Howard-Maxwell, now of Occasionally Fabulous Events. Spiralcat Creative served as creative director, designer, and photographer.

The Endocrine Society’s flagship magazine is a monthly publication called Endocrine News. It is a medical/lifestyle magazine that goes to all members of this medical society. CNJ Creative was hired to redesign the publication in 2015 and continues to design for the magazine today as Spiralcat Creative.

Sample pages from issues of the Official Charlotte NC Visitors Guide. CNJ Creative handled art direction and production design for 5 years.

Sample pages from award-winning Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Vacation Guide issues. I served as art and photography director for 10 years, both directly as an employee and then through CNJ Creative.

Spiralcat Creative is more than just editorial design, although admittedly it represents the bulk of past jobs. But branding & identity packages from just logo design to complete collateral layout are also in the wheelhouse. Below are logo samples, business cards, recipe sheets, and travel/marketing brochures. Plus a few more award-winning publications.

Below is a sampling of various covers from magazines and vacation guides.
